About the 2022 GLOW Global Experience

Cantu Beauty joined Women Empowering Nations (WEN), a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide exposure, development and mentorship for girls of color to accelerate their path to executive leadership, in providing over 100 hours of brand development, career and leadership training for Black young women around the globe.

With over 1,500 applicants in 2022, WEN and Cantu selected 50 young women ages 17-23 from Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, United Kingdom, France and the United States to participate in the Girls Leading Our World (GLOW) Global Cohort, a virtual and immersive, high impact leadership coaching experience. The Cantu GLOW Global Fellowship was a paid, four-month hands-on experience in the beauty industry, which concluded with a capstone and group travel seminar in Accra, Ghana in November 2022. During this fellowship, each young woman was immersed in four areas within the beauty industry — consumer, concept, commercial, and campaign — allowing them to experience a beauty campaign from concept to shelf.

GLOW Global fellows worked for four months in teams with other fellows from around the world developing multi-cultural business pitches to enhance the Cantu brand. This contributed to their personal and professional development with tangible business skills and networking opportunities. The fellowship culminated with a once-in-a-lifetime travel opportunity bringing together girls of the African diaspora back to one of the key areas of the transatlantic slave trade, Accra, Ghana.

Cantu sponsored over 226,145 miles traveled for the fellows to have global exposure, experiential learning, and cultural immersion. During the fellows’ week in-person together they saw the power of the relationships they built beyond borders form into a lasting sisterhood, they got to learn from Cantu executives and they were provided with exposure through this learning experience that will transform the trajectory of their lives.

The exposure I have gotten from the cohort and fellowship is just mind blowing. Never in my wildest dreams had I ever thought I would be able to learn from and build relationships with the executives who have coached, trained and mentored us in this program. I sat in our final session with tears in my eyes. I am forever grateful.” - Lucinda Abrams, South Africa GLOW Global Fellow
